I could say the smell was unpleasant-
if not for all the other factors at my hideout.
The pelican who can't decide where to stay and lands in
three different places before flying away.
the black and irridescent gnats that gnaw at my flesh laughing that
its december.
A gentle wind that pulls my hair from where I like it.
barnacles are holding to docks waiting for the tide to return so
they don't look so grim.
sea grass and marsh enjoy their quietness in hopes that spring
will take its time this year.
My dog nervously paces the landing because that
fish that keeps cutting the water is daring him to
get wet.
I tell him no.
all of it unique to this area but so simple in its beauty.
For a moment I want someone here with me to
hold their hand and take this in.
I'm too complete to want more from now.
